The 2008 semi-annual meeting of the RRBO was held on July 11, 2008 in Ha Long city (Quang Ninh province). The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Dao Xuan Hoc – Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Vu Van Thang – Director of Water Resources Development (MARD) cum Vice Chairman of the RRBO and Mr. Le Van Tan – Chairman of Ha Nam Provincial People’s Committee cum Chairman of Day Sub-RBO. It also gathered the presence of as many of more than 40 members and guests. In addition to other issues faced by the water sector in the Red-Thai Binh river basin, food security, water demands in response to rapid urbanization and industrialization, and water environment quality are specifically addressed at the meeting.
