On January 17, 2006, the 2005 general meeting of the RRBO was held in Hanoi gathering participants from 26 member provinces and different member organizations from ministries and sectors in Hanoi. Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuat chaired the meeting.
In 2005, important activities have been successfully implemented including implementation of integrated water resources utilization for the Red-Thai Binh river basin and its sub-basins; realization of drought overcoming measures for the winter-spring crop; close cooperation with relevant authorities in storm and flood control and mitigation; field visits to areas and hydraulic systems in the basin; attendance in important events of the region (2nd Southeast Asia Water forum); co-organization of the NARBO workshop on “Water Right and Water Allocation”, etc. In 2006, efforts will be maintained in carrying out the tasks of the RRBO such as official establishment of Day and Cau Sub RBOs, continued cooperation with competent departments and agencies in relevant activities, and in international cooperation with NARBO and other organizations as well.
