The 5th NARBO IWRM training on “Keys for success with IWRM” was held on 18-25 February 2009 in Hoi An (Quang Nam province – Vietnam). There were about 20 participants from India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang and Ms. Vo Thi Thu Thuong from the Red-Thai Binh RBO and Mr. Dang Xuan Khanh from Day Sub-RBO attended the training.
The training provided interesting lectures on IWRM concepts, approaches and guidelines. There are also participant presentations, poster session and small and whole group discussion. The Vu Gia – Thu Bon river basin was selected for the Case study and two days of field trips on the basin were spent to help participants understand challenging water issues in the basin and apply what they have learnt.
The training is assessed as successful in providing participants with useful IWRM tools for application in their respective river basin.
