Following the first, second and third Thematic Workshop on Water Allocation and Water Rights held in Hanoi (Vietnam), Manila (Philippines), and Bangkok (Thailand) respectively, the 4th one was completed on January 26, 2007 in the Headquarter of Japan Water Agency in Saitama, Japan after 3 working days. 13 participants from 7 countries including Mr. Le Van Hoc and Mr. Bui Nam Sach from the RRBO attended the workshop.
The participants gave presentation on and discussed the draft final action programs on how to improve water allocation issues in each participant’s country. In addition, they were also shared important information on water resources management in Japan through site visits to the Tone Canal Project in Saitama Prefecture, the Kasumigaura Lake Development Project in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the Chiba Canal Project in Chiba Prefecture in Tone and Ara river basins.
During the workshop, a special lecture on “Case Study of improving water issue, taking the experience on Aichi Canal as an example” has been given by Dr. Yoshida, Professor, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, University of Tokyo in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT).
