From 6-10 November 2006, the 4th NARBO training course with Water for all – Lessons learnt and meeting future challenges as the training theme was held in Sri Lanka by Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka in collaboration with NARBO Secretariat.
The training course gathered more than 20 participants from Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
The RRBO Office had sent Mr. Vu Phuong Nam to attend the training together with other 4 Vietnamese participants including 2 from the General Office for RBOs and 2 from the Southern Institute of Water Resources Planning.
Main contents of the training include:
- Experiences of Sri Lanka in water resources management and those of other NARBO members;
- Fields visits to Mahaweli project area, especially different dams such as Victoria Randenigala, and Rantembe.
- Sri Lankan lessons learnt from tsunami disaster in 2004 (regarding prediction, evacuation, mitigation and reconstruction)
